The Rochester Mini Library Program promotes literacy and learning through a self-sustaining mini library network in Rochester neighborhoods.  Our vision is to grow proficient and avid readers in Rochester.  In the summer of 2015, we installed 40 mini libraries throughout Rochester neighborhoods to provide barrier-free access to books for children and families within walking distance of their home.  A focus of the program is on enriching youth who are not currently reached by the Rochester Public Library’s services due to geographic, language or financial barriers.

This program was created by the Leadership Greater Rochester Class of 2015, which participated in a comprehensive 10-month leadership development course led by the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce.  As of August 2015, the Rochester Public Library has become the contact point for any future mini library installations and book refills for existing libraries.
